About Amanda

My name is Amanda Strouse.

I lived in New Jersey until I was 13. Lived in Tucson until I was 16. Lived in Livermore (near San Francisco) until I graduated high school at 18. Then I decided to attend San Diego State University. I love to travel and I’m extremely versatile with locations, culture and weather.

Major: Journalism

Minors: Psychology and Political Science

I enjoy writing about politics or anything that has to do with the local, state or federal government.

I like to write, read, work out, watch movies, watch the news, watch sports, travel, go to events, meet new people, learn new things and hang out with friends.

I’ve been an editor at The Daily Aztec for three years. To put it simply: I like to commit. I like challenges. I love to be busy.

I’m ambitious, out-spoken, independent, prompt and responsible.

I’m a verrrry inquisitive person.

I believe that journalism is the 4th estate.

I’m not scared to ask the tough questions.

I looooove interviews and I excel at them.

I am a watchdog. And I don’t fear my role. I’m enthralled by it. Consumed by it.

I’m always thinking about possible stories. I’m always judging other journalists and news organizations. I’m always making decisions about news judgment.

I think honest, ambitious journalists are the most compassionate, most talented people in the world. Journalism is the one profession that is necessary. The art of language will never disappear. And the yearn for knowledge will never diminish.

I hope to be a political reporter/investigative reporter for years to come. I’d like to travel abroad and write for the AP. I dream about writing for the Washington Post or The New York Times. Eventually I plan to travel and write books.
